Due to the Blizzard of 2010, the Black History Month Family Day Celebration was postponed and is now scheduled for tomorrow at the National Museum of American History. Here is a list of events from the Smithsonian’s web site:
- 11 AM-2 PM: Family Activity: Create a cut-out genealogy book led by artist Carol Barton (1st floor, East Wing, near the John Bull locomotive)
- 11:30 AM, 2 PM, and 4 PM: “Join the Student Sit-Ins,” an award-winning interactive theatrical presentation (2nd Floor, East Wing, Greensboro lunch counter)
- 1 PM, 3 PM, and 5 PM: The musical program “Sing for Freedom,” which celebrates the role of freedom songs in the Civil Rights movement (2nd Floor, East Wing, Greensboro lunch counter)
- 1-1:30 PM: Andrea Pinkney signs copies of her children’s book Sit-In (outside Mall Museum Store, 2nd floor)
- 1:30 PM: The puppet show Can You Spell Harlem? (1st floor, Lobby, near Carmichael Auditorium)
